BLS PROVIDER

The American Heart Association’s BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed to teach a wide range of certified or noncertified, licensed, or unlicensed healthcare professionals how to keep people alive until they can be transported to a hospital or treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.

The BLS course covers the following topics:

  • CPR for adults and children 
  • Scenarios including two rescuers and the deployment of a bag-valve mask
  • Foreign-body blockage of the airway (conscious and unconscious)
  • External defibrillation (including kid AED update)
  • Specific resuscitation circumstances
  • Additional cardiovascular crises
  • Cardiac arrest and stroke

The BLS course covers the following topics:

Hands-on CPR AED training, the Heartsaver CPR AED course covers:

  • Adult CPR AED
  • Adult Choking
  • Child CPR AED
  • Infant CPR
  • Child and Infant Choking

 The Heartsaver ® CPR AED course is designed for anyone who is required to respond to a cardiac emergency due to job duties or regulatory requirements, such as: 

  • Child Care Workers
  • Security guards
  • Airline personnel
  • Police Officers
  • Firefighters

 It is also useful for lay rescuers who may be called to a workplace emergency and family members of patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death.

HEARTSAVER CPR/AED AND FIRST AID

The Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid course teaches learners the crucial skills and knowledge required to respond to and manage an emergency in the critical first few minutes before emergency medical personnel arrive. This training also covers adult CPR and AED. The course is based on the American Heart Association’s 2020 CPR and ECC Guidelines.

Heartsaver Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid

The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED training teaches caregivers and others how to respond to and treat illnesses and accidents in children and infants in the first few minutes until expert help arrives. 

The course covers the following topics:

  • First aid basics
  • Relieving choking
  • Using an Epinephrine pen
  • Child CPR AED
  • Infant CPR

Optional Lessons include:

  • Asthma-care training for child-care providers
  • Adult CPR AED

The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course is intended for people who regularly care for or come in contact with infants and children, including:

  • Childcare/Daycare workers
  • Parents and Grandparents
  • Teachers and other educators
  • Nannies and Babysitters

The length of the course varies depending on the needs and modules presented, with skills practice and assessment conducted by an American Heart Association Instructor throughout.

HeartCode BLS/Skills Testing

HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s BLS learning delivery method.  Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes a portion of the course on their own time, and a hands-on skills session. Students who complete this course satisfactorily will receive a two-year certification.

HEARTCODE ONLINE PORTION $34 paid directly to AHA (must be completed before coming to class). 

You must complete BOTH parts to receive your BLS Provider Card. 

Family & Friends CPR

Manual Included

This training teaches adult, child, and infant CPR as well as how to deal with choking emergencies in adults, children, and newborns. As in the Heartsaver AED certified courses, AEDs will be discussed but not practiced. This course will provide you with a complete understanding and competence to do CPR on adults, children, and newborns, as well as how to address choking events. This course is ideal for people who only want a basic CPR instruction that does not include hands-on usage of a defibrillator or who do not need to be certified. Young teenagers who babysit are ideal candidates for this workshop.

HeartSaver For K-12 Schools

Manual Included 

This Heartsaver® CPR AED training is only available to K-12 students, instructors, and staff.

The Heartsaver CPR AED course is meant to teach students how to perform CPR and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Heartsaver courses are designed to be flexible and adjustable, with optional modules, and are intended for anyone who requires a course but has little or no medical knowledge.

Students who successfully complete the Heartsaver CPR AED course should be able to:

  • Explain how good CPR improves survival
  • Explain the fundamentals of the Survival Chain
  • Determine when someone requires CPR
  • During multi-rescuer CPR, conduct high-quality CPR on an adult alone or as a team member (child and infant CPR modules are optional).
  • For all age groups, provide effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a barrier device.
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult (optional kid and infant AED modules)
  • Describe when and how to assist an adult or child who is choking (the newborn choking module is optional).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support/ACLS

INITIAL & RENEWAL

The ACLS course improves on the lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills by emphasizing the significance of continuous, high-quality CPR.  This advanced training emphasizes the significance of team dynamics and communication, care systems, and rapid post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS includes airway management and pharmacotherapy. 

The course covers:

  • ACLS algorithms
  • Airway management
  • Rhythm recognition
  • High-quality CPR
  • Megacode treatment 
  • Immediate post cardiac-arrest care
  • 1-rescuer CPR AED
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

HeartCode ACLS/Skills Testing

The AHA’s BLS blended learning delivery technique is HeartCode ACLS. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes a portion of the course on their own time, and a hands-on skills session. Pediatric Advanced Life Support/PALS

INITIAL & RENEWAL 

This instructor-led, classroom-based PALS course is a must-have for physicians, nurses, and emergency medical care personnel. It’s also a good pre- and post-course reference book. Based on the American Heart Association’s 2020 CPR and ECC Guidelines.

The instructor-led PALS course employs simulated pediatric emergencies to teach key concepts such as a systematic approach to pediatric evaluation, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The PALS course’s purpose is to improve the quality of care given to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in better outcomes. 

The manual contains information on:

  • Pediatric crises
  • Ideas of a systematic approach to pediatric evaluation 
  • BLS 
  • PALS treatment algorithms 
  • Successful resuscitation 
  • Team dynamics.
